Frankfort, KY – The World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky, are less than three weeks away. Ticket sales have been picking up in recent weeks, and near 325,000. That's about half of what was initially anticipated, but First Lady Jane Beshear says it's still quite impressive, considering the current economy.
"Am I disappointed? No, not at all. Not only will we have the 300,000 bodies, coming to and from - or seats in the stands - but also, we're going to be on national TV. We're going to be covered by NBC for six and a half hours - unheard of in equestrian sport in the United States."
Mrs. Beshear hopes Kentuckians will take advantage of this unique opportunity to see some of the best equestrian athletes, and their horses, in the world. She says a general admission pass is only $25, which is good for an entire day.
