Illinois – Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has replaced the state's head of corrections. The governor announced acting assistant director Gladyse Taylor will take over as acting director of the Illinois Department of Corrections. This follows the resignation of Michael Randle last week. Randle stepped down amid allegations involving early release to violent offenders. A report last month said the corrections department failed to consider possible dangers to the public with the early release program. Quinn says Randle's resignation is effective September 17.
