Madisonville, KY – A former Madisonville police evidence technician will pay $50,000 in restitution for stealing evidence in a plea deal. 39-year old Brian McKinney pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking over $300, a Class D misdemeanor. The prosecution has recommended McKinney serve one year of a five-year sentence, which is to run concurrent with a previous two-year sentence he served in a Texas correctional facility for selling firearms across state lines. McKinney is to be formally sentenced in Hopkins Circuit Court on October 18.
