Henry Co. Homeowner Shoots Would-Be Burglar

By Chris Taylor

Henry County, TN – A Henry County, Tennessee homeowner shot and wounded a man trying to break into his home yesterday, but the would-be burglar disappeared into nearby woods. Police say the homeowner was awakened by noises of someone trying to break in through his back door, so using a .22-caliber rifle he startled the man and shot at his legs after he began to run away. Detectives found trace evidence of blood on the ground. Police describe to the Paris Post Intelligencer the suspect is thought to be about 6-foot-2 with blond hair last seen wearing a plaid jacket and blue jeans. Authorities have alerted area emergency rooms to be on the lookout for anyone seeking treatment for a small-caliber bullet wound to the legs or feet.
