Paducah, KY – A McCracken County judge has dismissed charges against a Paducah pastor accused of knowingly exploiting an elderly congregant. District Judge Tony Kitchen dismissed the felony charges against 54-year-old Reverend Charles Dunbar yesterday citing lack of probable cause, but added the case could still be reinstated or head to a grand jury. Dunbar allegedly took nearly $6,000 from 81-year-old nursing home patient Viola Hunt of whom he had power of attorney over. McCracken Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Guthrie Allen tells the Paducah Sun proving the exploiting charge would have been difficult to prove and anticipates other charges may be filed that more accurately reflect Dunbar's alleged crime.
