Hebron, KY – The Kentucky Governor's Conference on Postsecondary Education Trusteeship meets today in Hebron. The one-day summit of policymakers and campus leaders will focus on controlling costs and increasing efficiency at state schools. The economic downturn has led to significant cuts at Kentucky higher learning institutions. The CPE staff will provide a summary of ideas put forth at the summit. The group also plans further meetings to discuss cost-saving ideas.
In related news, the Council on Postsecondary Education yesterday approved a new diversity policy effective in 2011. CPE President Bob King says the policy will help make institutions more appealing to people of many ethnicities and backgrounds. The council will review the need for the policy in 2015. Individual schools must present their specific diversity plans this coming March.
