Hopkinsville Students Sent Home for Wearing Blue

By Angela Hatton

Hopkinsville, KY – Suspicion over gang activity caused administrators to send some students home from Hopkinsville High School yesterday. The school principal banned seven students suspected in a gang-related incident Friday from wearing blue until the incident is investigated. School officials believe the color choice is connected to a gang. The students deny gang involvement. The Kentucky New Era reports the students' parents have complained to Superintendent Brady Link. They say their children were treated unfairly because they are black. School spokesperson Regan Honeycutt says nearly a dozen parents have called praising the school's action as proactive.
