GPEDC CEO: Paducah Can Count MSU

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – Greater Paducah Economic Development Council CEO Chad Chancellor says the city's lack of a major four-year college campus will not impinge on its industry recruiting efforts because it can count nearby Murray State. Speaking to a committee studying a potential Paducah and McCracken County merger yesterday, the Paducah Sun reports Chancellor says MSU's close proximity to Paducah means they can use it to attract industry there. He also reiterated his position a merger would only help recruiting industry if the effort cut bureaucracy and reduced the cost of complying with regulations. However, he says simply citing a higher population number would not draw prospects because industry looks at a regional picture.
