Mayor Removes Opponent from Tourism Commission

By Angela Hatton

Oak Grove, KY – The Oak Grove mayor has removed his general election opponent from the local Tourism Commission, citing inappropriate campaigning. The Kentucky New Era reports Mayor Dan Potter removed city council member Bea Burt from her position after she wore an "elect Bea Burt mayor" t-shirt to a public festival. Potter claims the event, which saluted Fort Campbell families, was not the right time to wear the shirt. Burt says she was not representing the city at the festival, and claims Tourism Commission Director Traci Cunningham approved the shirt. Potter had removed Burt from the Community Development Committee in March. Burt has not decided whether she will appeal Potter's decision.
