Cabondale, IL – A lack of state funding may force Southern Illinois University in Carbondale to close its administrative offices for up to six additional days. Each day closed will save the university roughly 550-thousand dollars. The university is currently trying to make up for a $2.5 million deficit in this year's budget. The university has already instituted a hiring freeze and a 4% budget cut for all departments. The University's Board of Trustees meets Thursday in Edwardsville to consider the proposal.
