Mayfield, KY – People in Mayfield continues to discuss ideas for a possible alternative mosque site after the zoning board rejected a permit for one downtown. Real estate agent Tommy Waldrop tells the Mayfield Messenger he met with a representative for the Somali Muslims who want applied for the permit a few days after the decision. Waldrop says they discussed a site that was a hospital, and is now a Hispanic worship center. He says they would not need the entire location, just some rooms for a community center and worship space. No deals have been finalized.
