Purchase and Pennyrile – Communities in the Purchase and Pennyrile regions can access a portion of $4 million in federal and state funds through a new health initiative grant. Susan Zepeda is CEO of the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky. She says her organization matched a $2 million grant from the Federal Social Innovation Fund with another $2 million from its own endowment.
"This money is targeted toward struggling communities with low-income populations, less-than-adequate health resources, and a bold, good idea of how to make things better in their community."
A minimum of $200,000 will go to each successful grantee. The Foundation will accept applications from non-profits and local governments. Applicants must be ready to match the grant dollar-for-dollar. The deadline is October 18.
