Murray, KY – Nearly 5,000 past and current employees of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant have received over 500 million dollars in compensation and medical benefits from the U.S. Department of Labor. As the only operating uranium enrichment facility in the country, the Paducah plant has produced more than a million tons of uranium during its Cold War history. Exposure to harmful materials may be the reason for many of the health issues that the plant's employees have suffered. In a report by Kentucky Publishing Incorporated, eligible employees may receive monetary compensation and medical coverage.
