Nashville, TN – Tougher student test standards are about to hit home in Tennessee and Governor Phil Bredesen says students and parents should brace themselves for lower scores. The governor says new scoring standards for the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program tests that students took in April are more accurate than scoring that had been used. Bredesen says the old standards gave a false impression of student preparedness for college and careers. Despite tougher standards, he expects scores to be higher by next year.
