Frankfort, KY – Kentucky's Occupational Safety and Health Administration or OSHA is charging the Commonwealth's Transportation Cabinet with six citations for violating standards at the Reidland office, where this summer seven employees were exposed to asbestos. The exposure occurred when workers installing lights drilled into the ceiling, releasing the carcinogen. An OSHA investigation found asbestos levels as high as 9 percent. The Transportation Cabinet had originally reported those levels were lower than 1 percent. According to the Paducah Sun, OSHA has charged the Transportation Cabinet with nearly $13,000 in fines over the incident.
