Hotel Owner Says He Was Unfairly Targeted

By Angela Hatton

Gilbertsville, KY – A Gilbertsville hotel owner denies charges he illegally sold alcohol at his business. Keith Dooley tells the Marshall County Tribune-Courier he only provided a rec room for the guests staying at Ken-Bar Lodge. Dooley alleges he's been unfairly targeted because he is housing over two-hundred temporary workers for the Shaw Group employment firm. The workers are filling in at the Honeywell nuclear fuel plant in Metropolis, as a union lock-out continues there. Marshall County Sheriff Kevin Byars denies the claim. Byars says the Ken-Bar Lodge has been under investigation for a long time. At a raid September 10, police seized a large amount of alcohol at the hotel, and $7,800 in cash. Byars says additional charges are pending further investigation.
