Metropolis, IL – A Massac County judge has granted the Honeywell corporation a temporary restraining order against the Local 7-699 chapter of the United Steel Workers Union. Honeywell spokesman Peter Dalpe says members of the union have been engaging in destructive and dangerous acts against the company. Those include union workers damaging company vehicles with roofing nails, fists, and signs; using mirrors to blind drivers and temporary workers inside the plant; blocking entrances to the plant; and threatening people entering and exiting the plant. Plant manager Larry Smith sent a letter to local president Darrell Lillie Thursday requesting him to urge workers to stop acts against Honeywell. Lillie was not available for comment. Union members have been locked out of the plant for nearly three months. Contract negotiations are set to resume October 11.
