Olmsted, Ill. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has installed the first section of the new Olmsted dam on the Ohio River. The placement kicks off the next phase of the Locks and Dam Project between Paducah and Cairo. Corps spokesperson Carol Labashosky says the second section is scheduled for installation next week. The Olmsted project has been ongoing since 1993, and Corps officials estimate they'll complete the project within the next five or six years.
