Frankfort, KY – Kentucky's top transportation official says the long-anticipated Interstate 69 is on the way, but not as fast as initially anticipated. Transportation Secretary Mike Hancock says I-69 projects are under way in multiple states, just slower than they'd like.
The highway, when finished, will utilize several existing highway sections in Kentucky, including I-24, the West Kentucky Parkway, the Julian Carroll Purchase Parkway and the Pennyrile Parkway. The northern point of I-69 will start in Michigan at the Canadian border. The southernmost point will split to serve three Texas border crossings into Mexico.
