Kentucky Schools Too Slow in Reaching Test Score Goals

By AP

Frankfort, KY – An analysis of recent statewide test results shows Kentucky public schools are moving too slowly toward reaching proficiency goals. The analysis by three education advocacy groups was released Monday. It shows that only 6%, down from 15%, of Kentucky high schools are at proficiency or are on pace to reach proficiency by 2014, the educators' target date.

Education consultant Susan Weston, who prepared the analysis, says only 39% of middle schools have reached proficiency or will reach proficiency by 2014 at their current rate.
