Officials Dedicate Paducah Power's Gas Plant

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – Since earlier this summer, Paducah Power has been producing just over a third of its own electricity at a new natural gas-fired plant. Officials yesterday dedicated the $100 million facility, which is part of a long-term plan to ensure stable electricity rates for the next 25-years. The plant is used to meet peak summer-time demands and will create surplus power for sale over the winter. The Paducah Sun reports the power company plans to shut down the plant at other times.
