Frankfort, KY – A Kentucky State Police spokesman says state residents turned in nearly four hundred pounds of prescription drugs during the "Take Back" initiative. The event held over the weekend allowed people to drop off unused prescription drugs at 16 locations throughout the state. The national initiative focuses on reducing prescription drug abuse. KSP spokesman Lieutenant David Jude says last year the number of deaths from prescription drug abuse exceeded the number of highway fatalities last year. Jude says the collected drugs will be sent to the national Drug Enforcement Administration for disposal.
