Frankfort, KY – Kentucky's Department for Natural Resources has presented a 2010 Commissioner's Award of Excellence in Reclamation for one company's effort to reclaim an abandoned western Kentucky mine facility. For over six years, Dyson Creek Coal has worked to reclaim a nearly thousand-acre site in Webster and Union counties. Mine Reclamation Inspector Glenn Lacy tells the Kentucky New Era he nominated Dyson because of the company's commitment to the environment, turning the area into viable croplands and fish and wildlife habitats.
