Madisonville, KY – The Hopkins County Board of Education last night approved a firm to begin preliminary work on the school system's career and technology center. Steve Pleasant Excavating of Madisonville won the bid to do the site's grating work. Director of Facilities Steve Gilliam says an architect is still working on the center's design. School officials estimate the project will cost nine millions dollars. Gilliam says bids could go out for construction in the next few weeks. He says all work must be approved by the Kentucky Department of Education before contractors can begin. When completed, the center will house six programs for high school students.
