Board Seeks Fourth Shelter Manager in Under a Year

By Angela Hatton

Madisonville, KY – The Hopkins County Humane Society board of directors is searching for its fourth shelter manager in less than a year. The shelter's former manager Michelle Burnside resigned mid-September. She gave no reason for the departure. Burnside had replaced manager Misty Payne, who left amid controversy in March after less than a month on the job. Board of Directors Secretary Jan Humphrey tells the Madisonville Messenger the board plans to take its time to search for qualified job candidates. Humphrey says members of the board will fill in during the interim. The news comes ahead of plans to build a new shelter, and concerns over unpaid veterinary bills. The Hopkins County Fiscal Court plans to address these issues at its upcoming meeting.
