Knoxville, TN – Money from a tuition increase at the University of Tennessee will be used to hire faculty for courses the university system needs to teach more often. The so-called "bottleneck courses" often prevent students from graduating on schedule because they can't get into a required class. The UT board approved a nine percent tuition bump in June. New teachers will start in the fall of 2011 and they will be permanent. Some funds will also be used to hire more academic advisers.
