Frankfort, KY – Health officials in Kentucky say the flu season has started. State epidemiologist Dr.Kraig Humbaugh says it's not unusual to see the flu appear in early October.
"Flu season in Kentucky has begun. We're announcing the first confirmed case of influenza in Kentucky this flu season. That was a specimen that was confirmed by our Division of Laboratory Services here at the Kentucky Department for Public Health."
Dr. Humbaugh recommends that all individuals six months of age and older should be vaccinated this year. He says most people will only need one flu shot, since this year's vaccine covers H1N1 flu.
