Woman donates farm to MSU in honor of late husband

By Todd Hatton

Murray, KY – A Murray State University alumna has donated a 1 hundred and 60 acre farm to the university to use as a research and laboratory facility. 1990 Murray State graduate Cindy Hutson made the gift in honor of her late husband, Dan C. Hutson the second.
The farm, located in Calloway County about three miles from the M-S-U campus has been appraised at one million dollars. The donation was announced Friday during a meeting of the Agriculture Campaign for Research and Education of Students leadership team.
Dan Hutson graduated from Murray State in 1977. He expanded his family's existing business and began his own while a student. He later operated a John Deere franchise that, by the time of his death in 2008 had become the fourth largest franchise in the United States.
