Bidding War for Chemical Plant

By Jacque Day

Dawson, Springs – Dawson Springs Mayor Ross Workman says incentives are not off the table for a company looking to relocate to the town. But a council decision to not grant a tax abatement opened the door for other city suitors, including Owensboro. New Beginning Chemical LLC owner Mike Coke requested a five-year tax abatement from Dawson Springs. Mayor Workman says the council wants to meet with Coke before rendering a final decision. Currently company is located in Owensboro under the previous ownership. Nicholas Brake with the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation says, they've offered to discuss local incentives with Coke in an effort to keep the company in Owensboro.
