Paducah, KY – McCracken County School officials warn they could delay construction of the new consolidated high school after receiving higher than expected bids. The school was expected to be completed by the fall of 2012 and a delay could push that back by another year. Board Vice Chairman Rick Straub says he favors an architectural redesign to fit the project within the school board's budget. The Paducah Sun reports the school board received a low bid of $60.8 million. That's almost $7 million over the amount Kentucky's Department of Education had approved for the project. It's also about $11 million higher than what the school's architect had speculated would be a competition-driven low bid.
