Metropolis, IL – The Metropolis chapter of the United Steel Workers union and Honeywell corporation officials continue negotiations today. Monday's negotiations were the first sit-down between the two in over a month. Honeywell spokesman Peter Dalpe says the two sides made progress in several areas. Honeywell hopes to take further steps towards reaching a settlement. Union representatives were unavailable for comment. Around 220 members of the local 7-699 union have been locked out of the nuclear fuel plant since late June when their contract expired.
