Paducah, KY – Paducah city officials could announce their pick for a new city manager as early as this afternoon. Mayor Bill Paxton and city commissioners are focusing on one candidate after a second finalist withdrew from consideration. Paxton says he hopes an announcement can be made today and the city can begin formally negotiating contract details. The Paducah Sun reports the likely candidate is 53-year-old Jeffrey Pederson, a city administrator from Nebraska. A second leading candidate, Douglas Maxeiner yesterday withdrew his application explaining his wife received a job promotion.
