Nashville, TN – Tennessee sales tax revenue continued to grow in September, with collections coming in $41 million more than the budgeted estimate. Tennessee Finance Commissioner Dave Goetz says overall September revenues were just over $977 million, or about 6% above September 2009 collections.
The general fund was over collected by $28.5 million and the four other funds were over collected by $12.5 million. Goetz says he's pleased by the recent growth in the sales tax and corporate tax categories particularly given the conditions the state faced until this spring.
