Frankfort, KY – A Level 2 drought has been declared for much of the Western Kentucky area. The area has been under a Level 1 drought for the past month with burn bans in all counties across the region. Kentucky Division of Water environmental technologist Chip Zimmer has predicted the dry weather pattern could continue into November. A Level 2 drought indicates low stream and lake levels, which can lead to water restrictions.
