Clarksville, TN – The prospect of a job at the new 1 point 2 billion dollar Hemlock Semiconductor plant in Clarksville, Tennessee drew about 400 potential applicants from multiple states, even though the facility won't start hiring for at least a year.
Applicants from Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Georgia arrived late last week to pursue one of what is expected to be about 500 jobs at the plant, which is under construction.
Hemlock will manufacture polysilicon, a key component in solar panels. Production is expected to begin in late 2012, and the company has said it will hire about 500 workers.
