Marshall County, KY – Contention is growing over Marshall County water rate hikes and allegations of reckless spending. Former commissioner Scott Soloman and several community members last night voiced dissent about a 20% rate hike set to begin in December and accused the board's current chair of making thousands of dollars in purchases and selling public property without the board's approval. They also allege a potentially unsafe degreaser is being used in the district's water wells. WPSD-TV reports the water board is $1.3 million in debt, with over $175,000 out on credit.
