Clarksville, TN – Former Montgomery County Executive Joel Plummer remains in critical condition after suffering head injuries in a car accident this weekend. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck, a head-on collision on Highway 48/13 Saturday that left Plummber trapped.
Plummer was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is still receiving treatment. Plummer spent 38 years in public service holding several governmental posts, including Montgomery County Sheriff and Tennessee Commissioner of Public Safety.
From 1982 to 1993 he was the county executive, the position now known as the county mayor. The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle reports Plummer was still listed as critical late Sunday afternoon.
