Paducah Newsman Retiring after 4 Decades

By AP

Paducah, KY – The Paducah Sun's longtime legislative reporter, Bill Bartleman, is retiring after working nearly 39 years at the newspaper. Bartleman began his career at the paper in 1972 after attending Murray State University. Three years later he took over the paper's government and political coverage and began covering the Kentucky General Assembly.

The 61-year-old says he's "thoroughly enjoyed" his career and has "mixed emotions about retiring." Bartleman was also a frequent contributor for more than 30 years on Kentucky Educational Television's "Comment on Kentucky" and served as a panelist for KET-sponsored political debates. Bartleman says he has accepted an administrator position at Mid-Continent University in Mayfield.
