Murray, KY – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear says he's confident his recent trip to India will lead to jobs in the commonwealth. Beshear is the first sitting Kentucky governor to visit India. He returned from a trip to New Delhi and Mumbai last week. The Governor met with business leaders in hopes of convincing them to operate in Kentucky. He says the state is well-suited for manufacturing plants, but all industries are welcome.
"Informational technology is a big thing in India and they are looking to expand that into the United States and hopefully into Kentucky. So I think there will be a variety of things that will happen."
There are currently six Indian-owned companies operating in Kentucky. Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels will visit China and Japan for similar business next week.
