Hopkinsville Officers Joyride, Violate City Policy

By Angela Hatton

Hopkinsville, KY – One Hopkinsville police officer is suspended and another has resigned after a joyriding incident earlier this month. Patrolmen Wilhelm Meyers and Robert Sibal were intoxicated while off-duty and hand-cuffed a female companion. The Kentucky New Era reports she voluntarily got in the back of a police cruiser then the group drove to a near-by shopping center where Meyers did a "burn-out." Hopkinsville Police Chief Guy Howie says the officers violated department and city employee policy. Meyers resigned Wednesday following an internal investigation. Sibal is suspended without pay for 30 days. He will be on probation for a year.
