Massac County, Ill. – Massac County's unemployment rate dropped 2.5 percent in one month. The Illinois Department of Employment Security released the data Thursday. Massac County's August jobless rate was 11.2 percent. September's numbers are down to 8.7 percent. But the county lost more than 260 employable people in that time, totaling three-percent reduction. The county's workforce had been on a steady rise through most of 2010. September marks the first month since February that labor force numbers dropped.
