Bardwell, KY – The American Civil Liberties Union is investigating Carlisle County Schools after two principals circulated an anti-Muslim email. Superintendent Keith Shoulders says the incident occurred in mid-September. The two principals sent an email, which used inflammatory language about Muslim women, to other faculty. Shoulders says the email violated the schools' technology-use policy. He says the principals will not receive formal reprimands.
"Well, they both have exemplary work records, so it's very low level consequence of basically reviewing the policy and y'know, reaffirming that they know work email is for work email, and that's it."
An anonymous person recently brought the email to public attention. The ACLU's attorney William Sharp has sent an open records request to the school. Shoulders says the school system will comply with the request.
