Frankfort, KY – Leaders at the Kentucky League of Cities and the Kentucky Association of Counties have outlined changes the agencies have made to make them more open. Officials at both agencies on Wednesday described the changes to the state legislature's Interim Joint Committee on Local Government. Some of changes include new policies on how expenses are reviewed, how contracts are approved and how credit card purchases are made. In addition, both groups have new policies on open meetings, conflicts-of-interest and financial-disclosures. The changes were made after highly publicized scandals involving questionable spending by both agencies, which are primarily funded by public money.
