Cadiz, KY – A Cadiz woman has won a lottery prize less than three weeks after her home burned. The Paducah Sun reports Sandra Ramirez claimed an $80,000 jackpot - the grand prize from the Kentucky Lottery's Gold Bar Bonanza Ultimate Second Chance drawing.
On September 20th, Ramirez had been called by her father at the Clarksville, Tennessee, Sam's Club where she works. Her mobile home had burned from an electrical fire.
She got another call October 7th, informing her she'd won the jackpot. At first, Ramirez feared the winning ticket had burned in the home, but found her father had it. Daughter and father split the winnings - a little more than $40,000 after taxes.
