Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff today in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, 20-year-old Specialist Pedro Maldonado of Houston, Texas, died October 29th in Kandalay, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division.
