Todd County, Ky. – If you thought the elections in Kentucky were over, think again. Candidates are already qualifying for 2011 races, and Republican Bill Johnson of Todd County is the first to file paperwork. Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeigh reports.
Qualifying for Kentucky's constitutional offices opened last Wednesday. Johnson is running as a Republican for Secretary of State.
"Always been a passion of mine and still is today to defend the Constitution of this country, and so I thought this office fit that mission very well."
Johnson, you may recall, was in this year's U.S. Senate race, but withdrew before the primary. B.D. Wilson of Frankfort was picking up his paperwork from the Secretary of State's office. He plans to run as a Democrat for state Agriculture Commissioner. The filing deadline for the 2011 campaign is January 25th.
