Paducah, KY – McCracken County's Fiscal Court could sue to block Paducah's plan to annex some 200 acres of land in the Schneidman Road area. Judge-Executive Van Newberry calls into question the annexation's legality because it includes a patch of narrow Paducah and Louisville Railroad right-of-way to get to the 200 acres. He tells the Paducah Sun it could be "corridor annexation," which state law appears to prohibit. Fiscal Court members instructed County Attorney Michael Murphy to research the law and write a legal opinion. Paducah's planned annexation would rezone the land to heavy industrial, which has upset a pair of neighboring residents with concerns it would lower their property values.
