Paducah, KY – A Paducah man has been jailed after allegedly stealing money yesterday intended for the annual Lions Club Telethon of Stars. 22-year-old Casey Rae was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property, criminal trespass, and illegal possession of prescription drugs. Police say Rae is alleged to have grabbed money from a kettle in Hannan Plaza where Freddie Hicks was collecting donations. Hicks has danced in front the Hannan Plaza Kroger for several years to raise money for the telethon. Witnesses say the thief fled to the nearby Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, but could not get out of the facility. Police found Rae hiding in one of the center's bathrooms. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and other charges are pending.
