Paducah, KY – Paducah's Carson Center managers are in search of alternative funding after posting a loss for the fourth time in six years. Executive Director Brian Laczko says the Carson Center lost 180-thousand dollars on a $3 million budget this past year. This fiscal year Lacszko says he's trimmed the budget down to $2.6 million and plans to ask for more support from the city.
"While we appreciate the support from the city and we don't belittle it at all, we would appreciate more significant support from the city. And we don't receive support from the county, and we'd appreciate seeing some support there."
Paducah currently supplies $30,000 a year to the Carson Center. Laczko says a long-term solution would be an increased endowment through donors. So far for this fiscal year, the center had negative revenues in the first quarter, but Laczko says they are on track to make a profit in the second quarter.
