Frankfort, KY – Kentucky law enforcement officers will be on the roads through Thanksgiving weekend to make sure motorists are buckling up. The state Office of Highway Safety reports last year, 61% of people killed in vehicles in the Commonwealth weren't wearing a seat belt. The agency says seat belt use is at a record high of 84% nationwide, but Kentucky falls short of that at 80%.
During last year's Thanksgiving holiday, seven people were killed on Kentucky's roads, and the OHS says five of those people were unrestrained.
